How To Bleed a Heated Towel Rail #shorts
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.Год назад
Over time air can build up in radiators causing them to be colder at the top than the bottom. This makes your heating system less efficient, so it has to work harder to heat the room to the required temperature, which in turn results in higher energy bills. This problem can be very easily fixed if you bleed the heated towel rail to remove the air. Watch the video guide or follow the simple step...

Always keep the curtains open when the radiator is on? That doesn't make any sense whatsover. We only have the radiator on when it is cold and the cold comes in through the glass so of course curtains need to be closed to retain the heat in the room. We need to have the curtains closed AND the radiator underneath the window on. I'm searching for advice for that. People tuck the curtains behind the radiator for this reason but sometimes this isn't possible. What might other options be? Thank you
Sums it up
At about 1:00 you missed out the step where you have to fuck about with the drain valve for hours on end because the valve gets stuck (after years of inactivity). Then you have to pull the entire valve body out and behave like Moses holding back the water for a while.
Hi bought an Aruba vertical rad with central inlet, also an Aruba H block valve. Sadly no instructions were included and my live chat was rudely cut short, so could you please tell me the fitting sequence of the 15mm copper pipes into the valve? There are 4 components 1, a rubber sleeve. 2, a flat brass washer. 3, a brass split olive. 4, a chrome lock nut, which is obviously last to be fitted. Kind Regards
Hey yorsoul1555. Sorry to hear you've had issues with our live chat. You will hopefully find info on the way to approach this job in this pdf guide - cdn.bestheating.com/pdfs/eurocone%20MIL.pdf - there is a breakdown of how to fit what I believe you have for your radiator. I hope this helps. If not, please email info@bestheating.com and one of the technical team leaders will be able to help. Many thanks, John (Social Media Manager)
Even though this is a “short”, I appreciate that the issue is addressed. It’s been hard to find videos about window treatments that don’t obstruct a baseboard heater.
Perfect.
what are the advantages of column radiators vs convector radiators - or other types? Are they more/less efficient?
Hi do you fix each bracket using one of the screw holes or both in each bracket , a little unclear with top of bottom screw references Cheers Chris
must be doing something wrong...Ive drained the system, closed all the bleed valves. turned the water supply back on to the boiler feed, the pressure gauges instantly goes to 1.5-1.6, but the rads are empty? Ive got hot water all fine...
Thanks Bestheating guys. Your video taught me about bleeding point on towel radiators plus taught me or reminded me few things. I am fairly good on these things being a mechanical engineer. If I had paid attention to basics, as we are told, I may have found it but I think google has made us lazy and a little issue we open google. Again thanks to you and people like you for guiding us all. Cheers.
My towel radiator doesn't have a bleed valve that we can see. Any ideas?
If you can't find at the top of the radiator pipes then just look around it on the back as some radiators have it on the back for aesthetic reasons. Your radiator may also have a cover like a coin on top of the pipe. Try to move it and it will then expose the bleed valve.
Excellent video and great presentation. Clear and informative.
Hi guys, if you have one of the smaller radiators, they come with two different sized brackets. Which should be at the top?
Mines not got a space for radiator key its solid
My system has taken 6 hours to drain. I tried to make it go faster by attaching a hand-pump to the end of the hose to pull on the water. Central heating work is hard!

This is awesome man! Soo helpful, thankyou! BTW - do I need to turn off the water at the mains stopclock too?
Well explained ..thank you ..
Thanks so much for this, it looks super simple. I'm going to try this tomorrow when the heating is off (it's too cold tonight!). I have a question though, how would I top the boiler pressure up - and in fact - how would I know if I have a pressurised system? We have a dial similar to the one shown next to the on/off switch, so I'm guessing that's is a pressure gauge?
Hi Anna, thanks for stopping by. You can learn about filling your system with the help of this video - ruclips.net/video/2O31XXVstG8/видео.html - hope this helps. Thanks, BestHeating
Brilliant. No nonsense or time wasted. Cheers!
Simple, quick and detailed. Brilliant video thank you
Seems doable. Thank you for the clear explanation!
Hello...do I need to turn off water supply first? Thank you
Hi Lisa, you shouldn't have to if you isolate the water at the inlet valve of the towel rail. That said, it won't hurt if you do turn off the water altogether.
We like it alot
Works great
just as it should
I have one that i have installed. the element is heating up fine as you can feel it in the radiator bar it slots into. however the bars in front of that isn't getting hot (ie the whole radiator). do you know the reason for this?
Hi David, Thanks for getting in touch. So happy that you've chosen one of these radiators! Sorry to hear you are having a problem. Your issue could be caused by a number of factors. It's therefore best to drop an email to info@bestheating.com FAO the tech team, explaining the problem you're having. They could then help to troubleshoot your issue and better diagnose the problem. We hope this helps a little. Thanks.
@@Bestheating thanks
Follwed ypur guide, thanks. I’m assuming the valve hasnt closed properly as water leaks everytime I put the boiler on. My setup is slightly different to the video (the pipes come from the walls into the radiator). Can you help?
This could have been useful if there wasn't such bad echo, but a lot of it is inaudible.
Hi, what is the size of the hex key for screwing the valve connector into the radiator (39s of your video)?
Hi Rafal, the hex key used in the video is a half an inch key
@@Bestheating thank you!
another background music giving an headache - why don't you just speak up and explain.
Even this video technically just showed a DIY install of a radiator but not the connecting bits to the actual water pipes, its almost like hanging a photo frame, you should have shown the actual connecting to the pipes etc, may be a pushfit pipe or copper pipe (1980s)
As it is an "electric" radiator, it doesn't connect to "actual water pipes", so it wouldn't be relevant to include it. These radiators are filled with a heating solution, and operate independently of central heating, and therefore have no additional pipework to connect to.
Did you say wrap the tape 17 times? there must be slip of tongue!
Or 16 or 18 times if you prefer even numbers to odd. We do that with the stereo volume, it can NEVER be on an odd number! But 17 times was recommended by our resident engineer; and he knows his stuff (apparently!)
Thanks, helped me replace our towel radiator no problem.
Cracking stuff, John. We're glad you found the video useful. Happy heating!
Drill bit size for the supplied screws and wallplugs? That's what I came here for :-(
Is it normal for the boiler to have what sounds like air in it when turned back on after filling back to normal pressure? I ask this because I seem to get air in the boilers after refilling system and the noise can be quite alarming.
Great easily set out instruction thanks
Where do you get the trv from
Hi Alex, you can pick them up in our store. Here's a helpful page to show you which valves you may need to complete the look - www.bestheating.com/buying-radiator-valves. Hope this helps.
BestHeating yes helps a lot thanks 🤩
Did this and the water wouldn't stop coming bathroom flooded now cheers
Hi Nikki, sorry to hear that. Did you fully close the valves before doing so? If so, we couldn't think of a reason for the water to keep coming out. With the valves closed, water should not be able to come out of the inlets going into the towel rail. Is your set up identical to the one in the video?
Well we did that and there was no hissing and the rail is still hot at the bottom and cold at the top
Did you figure it out / get it fixed? Not a pro/expert but wondering if it could be even blocked (less likely if newer system, takes many many years for enough sludge to build up for that to be a risk), or maybe the pressure is too low and it can't get pushed up to the top (or if another radiator is stealing it all, if thats a thing).
@@jgbreezer It was indeed the pressure. An engineer called to service the boiler and we asked him to look at the rad. He just re-pressurised the boiler and the rad has been fine ever since!
Great video...thanks.
Do you have to put the glycol in the radiator?
No, the radiators are supplied pre-filled for your convenience.
Your videos are the best for plumbing. No time wasting, no trivial stories, no excessive safety recommendations. Just the info we want to see.
we all know what a filler loop is dont we??
Hi Paul, so you don't have to go and Google what one is, here's a link to a helpful guide we did that explains what you need to do to get the job done - www.bestheating.com/info/what-should-the-boiler-pressure-be-when-the-heating-is-on/ - we do hope it helps!
And magically the valve is connected to the the water pipes
Should you use PTFE tape when installing the element?
If you feel you would like to, it is safe to do so.
